- Task Card: Set Estimated Instructional Level - Star Math, Star Math Spanish, Star Reading, and Star Reading Spanish normally start a student's first test with questions slightly below the student's grade level. If the student has taken one of these tests in the past six months, the program uses the results from the last test to decide the starting difficulty level for the next one. However, when students have an Estimated Instructional Level set, the program uses that level to decide how difficult the first question should be. Change the Estimated Instructional Level when a student's starting level does not align with the student's grade. Setting the Estimated Instructional Level will only impact the student's very first assessment or if the student has not assessed within a 180-day span.

Renaissance Troubleshooting
- Task Card: Checking Rosters - Class rosters are uploaded into Renaissance from HISD Connect each night. If a student is on the Renaissance roster, but still cannot access their assessments, the issue may be related to product assignment. Call the Formative Assessment team after checking the Renaissance Roster.
- Task Card: Product Assignment (the assignment of tests to a class of students) is done automatically through student enrollment in a course. Course title changes from year-to-year or new course additions may prohibit automated class assignments. Check product assignments with this task card, and call Formative Assessment if you need assistance with product assignment.
- Task Card: Investigating Missing Students - HISD Connect schedules can be at the root of students who are not seen on class rosters and therefore have no access to their tests. Check the student's schedule to ensure there are no overlapping or missing courses.
- Task Card: Practice Questions - some students, especially at lower grade levels, may have difficulty getting through the practice questions at the beginning of the assessment. Check to see if your students are struggling with the issue and troubleshoot with this task card.
- Task Card: Domain Scores - Find data from the diagnostic report and domain scores that are uploaded into EASY IEP.
- Task Card: Add Team Teachers - Campuses may wish to include multiple teachers in a single classroom to give ancillary teachers access to student scores.
- Task Card: Deactivating a Test - Renaissance is an open website and students may test at any time from any place. Teachers may have a need to deactivate these tests, if a student tests off campus, or tests outside the testing window, or rushes through a test.
- Task Card: Tier II and Tier III Report - Campuses may need assistance in finding their Renaissance Data in OnTrack to help with the identification of Tier II and III students.
- Task Card: Verifying EOC Rosters - High school campuses may wish to clean up their EOC retester rosters to eliminate students that have a reason to be exempted from testing. This task card helps the teacher verify the students who are retesters, but who may not be currently enrolled in a course for which they need to retest.
- Task Card: Star Custom Reporting - Campuses that require unique reporting may create their own custom reports on grade level TEKS.
