Family Nights at Burbank Middle School
It is a tradition at Burbank Middle School to invite our parents, students, and community to several Family Nights throughout the year. Even though the entire school participates in every Family Night, each one is sponsored and organized by specific academic departments. These are the four Family Nights:
- Literacy Night- sponsored by the Reading and English Departments. For the past six years, Literacy Night has had the theme of the One Semester, One Book selection. We have also been fortunate to invite the author to our school to talk to our students, parents, and community and sign his or her book.
- Math and Science Night- sponsored by the Math and Science Departments. Each year the departments choose a theme that can be used to plan math and science activities for our students and visitors to enjoy.
- Electives Night- sponsored by our Electives Department which is made up of Spanish, Technology, Art, Karate, P.E., Band, and Music Theater. The Electives organize a concert, a theatrical presentation, technology games, a Karate Demo Team exhibition, and PE games. All our clubs also have the opportunity to show their talents. We have the Aguilas Doradas Folkloric Troupe, the Eagle Twirlers, and the Lady Eagles Cheerleaders perform for all our guests.
- International Night- sponsored by the Social Studies Department in conjunction with the Electives Department. It is a family night to enjoy visiting all the booths from the many countries of the world that are represented in out fair city.
