Career readiness in the arts prepares students of any age with the foundational skills they need to find, acquire, maintain, and grow within a job. The arts give students many options for career choices. They also provide skills needed as they enter the workforce.
Areas needed for acquiring, thriving, and maintaining a career in any professional field are:
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Critical thinking
- Emotional intelligence
- Financial literacy
- Time management
- Stress management
Preparing students for life after high school includes but is not limited to internships, technical training, college, and apprenticeships. All these encourage students to put their fine arts acquired skills to practice in real-world settings even when the career path is not fine arts specific. As students progress through their journey, they identify goals based on their interests and skills, learn what they can do now to achieve their goals, determine their path, and prepare to hone the soft skills and industry expertise needed to succeed in their chosen path.
