Referral for Students with a Suspected Visual Impairment
Framework (What’s Required):

(Visual Impairment (including blindness 300.8(c)(13), 89.1040(c)(12), 1401(3)(A) means an impairment in vision that, even with correction, adversely affects a child’s educational performance. The term includes both partial sight and blindness.
Persons Responsible:
-
Campus Interventions Assistant Team, Manager of Services for Students with Visual Impairments, evaluation specialist for students with visual impairments, teacher of the visually impaired, orientation and mobility specialist
Timelines:

The evaluation must be completed 45 school days from day of parental consent. ARD/IEP meeting must be held within 30 calendar days from date of evaluation.
