Last April 16, 2016 was the KickStartKids State Championship which was held in Irving, TX. Team Burbank was present with twenty four (24) competitors, eager to demonstrate their skills. The competition was fierce, but our team was strong and emerged victorious! We brought home Ten State Championships, One Overall Grand Champion and teammates of the Houston Demo Team that won the Demo Team State Championship. This Team is the Two-Time State Champions, winning in 2015 and 2016.

We had our Winter Belt Ceremony last night in front of more than two hundred parents. Our students had worked very hard to qualify for their belts and this was the opportunity to recognize their efforts. There will be another ceremony at the end of the year, after which we prepare for our Summer Competition.
I hope everyone will enjoy a wonderful Winter Holiday. I am looking forward to a new year of challenges met!

    December 15, 2015

Last Saturday December 12, 2015 Burbank Middle School hosted the KICKSTART KIDS Martial Arts Mania Demo Team Tournament. This event is held annually with the top prize awarded winning the chance to perform for Grand Master Chuck Norris. Burbank entered (2) Teams, a Beginner Team and an Advanced Team. They performed amazingly! I was truly blown away by both teams. They put their hearts and souls out on stage and for 6 minutes they made the memories of a lifetime.

The level of competition was extremely high and challenging this year. There are twenty-five (25) schools in the Southeast Area where we belong. These are:

    Black Middle School, Houston
    Burbank Middle School, Houston
    Central Middle School, Galveston
    Crockett Middle School, Richmond

Everything was going to have to be just right in order to be in the top three (3) teams. When all the smoke cleared, Burbank's Beginner Team won 1st Place and took home the championship trophy and banner. The Burbank Advanced Team was competing in the Advanced Division for the first time ever and they tied for 1st place. They were awarded 2nd Place due to a tie breaker.

I am so proud and honored to be a part of a great program in a great school with such amazing students!
