Burbank Middle School's
Karate Students
Outstanding Performance2014On March 8, 2014, twenty-two Burbank Middle School KickStartKids Karate students participated in a National Karate Tournament sponsored by the Texas Karate Organization. The tournament was held in Stafford Middle School in Stafford, Texas. This was their 1st karate tournament outside of KSK tournaments and every student did an amazing job.
When they first walked in, our students were in shock at seeing so many students from all parts of Texas and surrounding states. But once the tournament started, they settled down and allowed their training to take over. The results were amazing! All twenty-two students placed in the top three positions, many of them winning multiple 1st, 2nd and 3rd place plaques. Our school had the most student participation as well as the most group winnings. Mr. Roy White, Burbank's KSK Karate Instructor said after the event, "I am very proud of these students for all their hard work as well as their success. They work hard, they are focused, and are willing to put in the hours of practice. They are dedicated to their craft." Indeed they are dedicated and are now reaping their just rewards. The entire team wants to attend the next tournament which is in April. Since it is Austin Texas, there is a lot to be done in terms of permissions and funds. But Mr. White is not worried. "I have a little time to figure it out, " he said. "I know we will make it work." Congratulations to the Superstar KickStartKids Karate students!
