KickStartKids Team in Vegas!
Last July 18-21, 2013, our KickStartKids Karate Team traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the 2013 ITC World Championship. This was the first time that Burbank had been able to send a team to compete. There were many fundraisers during the year both by the Karate Classes and the PTO since this activity required a large monetary expense. But as always, our Burbank Eagles were able to get the job done.The team that participated was made up of the following students:Laura RodriguezNathan MonitaNathan MaldonadoGissell ReyesLesuy Mejia-HuertaJayvion HaroldCaesar GonzalezAgustin RamirezAll our students represented themselves, Burbank Middle School, Mr. Chcuk Norris, and their communities with respect, integrity, and pride. They trained all year and all June to get ready for this main event. The parents who accompanied the team were Mrs. Rodriguez and Mrs. Ramirez. Coach Stanley Ragsdale, P.E. Department Head at Burbank, as well as Mr. Roy White, KickStartKids Instructor completed Burbank's team.

Mr. Roy White, KickStartKids Karate Instructor at Burbank Middle School, also participated in the World Championship in the adult division. He earned a 1st in Weapon Forms, a 1st in Team Fighting (Two World Titles) and a 2nd in Forms.
This was an experience that will be long remembered by us all. Thank you to the PTO for their amazing support of our team. Thank you to Mrs. Hernandez for approving our participation and encouraging us along the way. Thank you to our parents and our students who believed that it could happen!
